One of my friends has a micro light and took me up a few day's ago any way were they fly alot of them well most of them fly paragliders having had a play with one of the guy's wing's i now want to have a proper go my self getting my self booked into to 2 day starter to learn the basics ect then doing alot of the ground work with the others as a few of them are instructor's then well hopfully i'll stick to it
Any of you guy's do it if so how did you find the training and how long till you were confident enough to go up with the motor?

A few years ago i did it in interlaken, switzerland but not on my own  was pretty amazing though

Yeah going up in the micro light was good fun but you need a ppl were as paragliding you dont and you can go pretty much any were and go explore at lower level 800 - 1500 feet it was awesome so well worth a try just want to be able to do it on my own ect hopfully will like it

Motors? Isn't the point in paragliding to soar thermals and mountain waves...

Paramotoring has the aid of a prop on your back so you can stay up for as long as you want not only that you can take off from a field get to altitude then idle and use thermals ect once you have dropped power back up or blast around with the motor in at low level

Old mans manager at work does Paramotoring (as well as flying), ended up building his own prop in their machine shop. Certainly a good sport though and have briefly looked into it in the past but a decent wing and harness aren't cheap.
Do you have to gain a licence to fly? I know France are quite strict on paragliding/paramotoring but i thought the UK is less strict?

Yeah that's the only down side a decent wing from what i'v seen and been advised as it's all new to me is about £2.5K your suite helmet ect £500+ and the most costly bit is the motor at any were fom £3k+ that's for all that new
Luckily i have been offered i decent wing for under £1k which was £2.5k new a year or so ago and the motor i can borrow untill i can afford a half decent one so long as if i brake any think i pay for it main thing is the wing is a decent one
And no you dont need ay sort of lisence if you wanted to you could go any buy all the kit now and go and fly, not that you would want to of coarse im going to go to a club in derby for a 2 day crash coarse in the basics then learn from there

I saw someone going for a launch once - head down, engine reving, running.... and then he tripped up. must have hurt!!

Seen that a few times should never have head down always lean back slightly look like a prat but take off so much better from what i've seen, i'll have to get pic's up soon i went up in the micolight last night and we did some video's with another paramotorist to show the view you get when flying and played around for abit should look good
