I have been working for the same company for five years. Currently working in IT as a Junior analyst programmer but I really need a change

Should I throw caution to the wind and be a bobby or stay in IT for ever!!

being a traffic cop takes time as you have to get by your 2 years probabtion etc then after that even if u were selected for traff training if there were any woman or minorities in the group they are more than likely to be chosen first due to the equal opportunities drive on at the moment

But yeh go for it , theres more to the cops than just driving fast with the blues on, what about the diving search unit, or the helicopter unit ??

I was going to apply for the force but chose to do IT instead.

It's worked out well in that I probably get paid at least twice as much as a copper with five years experience but a DBA's life can be a boring one at times.

Plus being in the police I could have stood at the end of the prom in Kirkcaldy all night and ticketed the kevved up NovaBoys with their blue LED's.

the cop salary is not bad considering, and if ur keen for promotion then the salry gets very inviting.

blebo : I know what you mean about the accidents being interesting it would be totally and differnet everytime.

I've been thinking excatly the same thing.

Currently working as a programmer and 80% of the time i'm bored crapless!

Theres a documentary on traffic cops on at the moment. Watched it last night and it didn't put me off one bit! Will have its downsides but what job doesn't

Just the minimum 2 year probabtion which puts me off.

it's all about getting paid to fly around in police car. Jumping lights, no sitting in traffic, everyone gives way to you. It's all good.
