when changing the rear brake pads on the astra, TIS shows to clamp the brake pipe and open the bleed nipple then return the piston, when i was doing the pads on the vxr one of the bleed nipples were siezed so i kept the pipe clamped but removed it from the caliper, i then removed the bleed nipple which had stripped the thread out, helicoiled it and replaced the bleed nipple, fitted the new pads and refitted everything to the car as it should be, bled the brakes and had a good firm pedal but as soon as i turned the ignition on and pumped the pedal they were spongy again

i have bled the brakes again and again and the pedal feel is getting no better, although i have heard from people that there are seals on the astra that are prone to turning if the piston isnt returned properly, i guess the question is do you think that could have happened or is there any other reason this could have happened as both me and my old man are stumped and both of us have plenty of mechanical knowlege and experience

air in the system

you bleed the other calipers, oh and btw you wasted your time doing that, just wind the caliper in, dont clamp it off and undo bleed nipple, talk about making hard work

ive bled all the calipers and its still no good, i mean the brakes work fine but they are still a bit spongy, when using them it takes 2 or 3 pumps to get the pedal decent every time i use them

bleed them again and again. Furthest from the master cylinder first, including the fronts

Does the bleed nipple seal on its thread? Take it you're not losing fluid?

pads have been on for a few months now and are well and truly bedded in, brakes have been bled several times and yeah alan, the nipple is sealed and there is no leaking so im completely stumped, might give it another bleed this weekend
