Hey guys, looking at possibly buying a 106 quicksilver, just the 1.4, insurance seems really really cheap on them and i really like the look of them, and i know 106's ain't too bad a car apart from it being french.
Anyone had one? Driven one? Or know a little about them to comment?
Thanks.

Decent car, interior is pretty horrible, you'll be sliding out of the seats on every corner and as said check the VTR thread. They are an ok car but really slow.

Are you joking Danny? Not much between a 1.2 16v Corsa but an 8v it will be.

I read that as 1.2 16v for some reason, sorry, but yeah they are not quick at all. A 1.2 16v Corsa would be as quick.

But their is alot of room for improvement, i.e s1head, inlet, ecu, loom, manifold, vtr stuff etc aswell.
Besides it'd be better looking and more respectable than the corsa ha!

My mate has one, I know this sounds chavvy but they're rapid with a 1.1 box.
Thinks to look out for = trim hanging off, gearbox, throttle cable, torsion etc.

They do look nice lowered with some decent wheels, or with the raptors black.

Obviously i'd be having a quick test-drive and a good look over the car before i buy, i am a mechanic(apprentice) so do have some basic knowledge of how stuff feels and what to look out for.
If it helps, it's this car

I know about the tailgate, which doesn't bother me as i know someone who can sort that out

Ah good to hear Hoping to go see it sunday morning to have a really good look over it.
Cheers danny! was hoping you'd make a shout due to your owning a pug haha.
I was very suprised at the quote given to me at £1050 as a 10month bonus accelerator with elephant and admiral. Hence why i'm really thinking about going to look at it etc

That's quite expensive for insurance I would say, although if you're 18-19 it's pretty average.

That's a decent quote for a quicksilver (insurance). Especially on the 10 month thingymabob.
Mate of mine paid £1400 on the same var

Careful with those accelerators, some insurance companies may not consider it a full years NCB if you choose a different company next year, just check

Tbh though i'll be 20 by then.. doesn't worry me as i'll be on double the pay so will be able to afford costs then easy.. it's now i'm worried about, so i think the 10month accelerator is best for me now. But i do know what the consequences of them are..

Pfft i can't find anyone selling them! Well within 50 miles. Sack travelling 100 miles to find out the guy selling was a liar and the cars a right off haha. Otherwise i might do
But it's affording the car you see.. Need to borrow/lend some money to buy the new car and sell the corsa, but i'll get £750ish for it easy i reckon
