just put new rings in mine, mine was burning oil like crazy inlet manifold was covered in oily slick and so was the pipe from air filter to throttle, put it back together to find it still burnt shit loads of oil.was told by engineer i need to bust the glaze on the bores or putting new rings in is wasting time,so its all back to bits again to get that done

Well, we we let u know. At the mo, the 4th piston has fallen apart, so new piston, new piston rings, all new gaskets etc etc.
Luckily Don's brother works for Vauxhall so knows wht he's doing. Still looking at a new engine possibly though yet

Mine is an early GSi 'L' 93.When i fitted my induction kik i did notice a bit of oil in the pipe connected to the air flow meter.I get a few little flat spots between 4000 and 5500RPM if there iis oil blocking up the air flow meter and in the inlet manifold that could be why. What do you reckon?

Is it not better in the long run to go for a rebore and over sized pistons.
Thats what i am doing to my C16xe in my Gsi plus it is having a full lightened and balanced bottom end.

I went to see the bloke who is gonna do my engine work yeasturday and he said mine will need a rebore and oversized pistons. He said the standard pistons have a wedge on the crown which under compression naturally forces the piston to one side of the cylinder wall which over 60000 miles makes it go oval. The oil then gets down the gap and is burnt.Makes sence, but its now gonna cost me a lot more to get it sorted.

Car drove loads smoother and reved better too. It's even better now with TT on - 132bhp @ 6000rpm. I reckon at full revs it would be 140bhp-ish

If i changed both manifolds to make it more free flowing obviously it would want to rev more.Whats the safe limit to put the rev limiter up to if i get i chipped?
