What diet do you currently have, and for what reason? (Bulking / Lose Weight)

How many calories per day do you have?

I need to up my calories per day, currently having just short of 3000, and trying to put mass on fast. It's all very well saying add another 1000 calories on that... but I cant physically find the time to. I'm trying to eat 4 small meals a day atm, with some snacks / shakes. Any advice would be great...

I'm following a diet in Mens Fitness Workouts (This months). Cba going to get the mag, but an example day would be;

Breakfast - Smoked Salmon with 2x Poached Eggs with 2 slice of bananna bread

Snack - Bag of Mixed Nuts, with 500g Natural Yoghurt

Lunch - Cos Lettuce, 500g Tuna, mixed peppers and red onion.

Shake

Gym

Tea - Beef Stroganoff (SP)

Snack - Bowl of Pasta with butter & grated Cheese.

Snack before bed - Cottage Cheese

i dont know how that works out to 3000calories but milk is a good idea and if youre serious about putting on mass drop all cardio

surely thats not 3000 cals

full fat milk scoop of whey and blended oats +banana, honey will put your cals up

id drop the bowl of pasta for something like 2 chicken breats, vedge and sweet potatoes or something though or at least wholewheat pasta

also only one shake? have 2 at least

Have more shakes during the day, an all in one supplement or something like that

change the pasta for chicken as said,and when got the time in the day maybe have porridge oats.

Those protein bars can be quite good aswell when at work etc.

Add Oats, Honey and olive oil into your shakes.
Prepare meals in the morning for the day, Throw some bannana's around and a handful of nuts here and there.
Get a bigger breakfast probably 3x as many egg's as your having now.
Im eating alot of rice at the moment So usual meals for me are Rice + lean mince, Rice + chicken breast, If you can stomarch it Liver is a good one and its only about 80p for 500g's!

The Gaining weight section on ukm is Very helpful so worth a check out if you havent alredy registerd over there.

I pretty much eat Paleo (but with dairy) mainly because I generally feel better, look better and perform better!

Not enough carbs in it to get SWOLE though

Diet today was a bit better, felt fucking sick having a shake with the full fat milk though.

Breakfast - 2 boals of oats, with some fruit (tropical box from tesco), with FF milk.
Snack - Pack of peanuts with a banana, glass of full fat milk.
Lunch - Garlic Pita Bread, with a tuna pasta bake, again with a glass of full fat milk.
Shake - Aparently 90g of protein in, with full fat milk...
Gym
Shake
Tea - Roast chicken pie, with peas and asparagus
Snack just now - Cottage Cheese

Is that a better diet, any idea on the calories

Agreed, depending on your body type. It's mainly aimed at people that say "I can't put on any weight" but the general arguement is that its better (in terms of increasing strength) to gain 30lbs of muscle and 20lbs of fat than 7lbs of lean muscle, as you can always cut the fat and stay strong.

I'm not saying its healthy but thats the (pretty much) proven theory behind it.

Edit - I know quite a few people that have done it and have all got bigger and stronger fairly quickly, myself included.

6 months ago i was around 11-12% BF, i'm now around 6-7% BF and my strength accross the range of exercises has dropped around 30%, yet i've hardly lost any muscle and look a lot better for it. So i'd say that being lean massively affects strength. Thats probs why you see all the massive beer bellied meat heads with their smooth composition and no definition benching 4/5 plates

never get this train of thought, unless your a power lifter or do it for a sport when will you actually use that strength other than the gym?

much rather sacrafice some strength to actually look good

what no of course not but how many people in the general public can bench 400lb, i have never heard any one say "i wish i could bench more weight".

the only people i have ever even heard of not being strong enough for something in general life are females really, on the other side of things ive heard tons of people say they wished they had less body fat/looked better ect.

Haha, I wouldn't say that. I went from 3x80kg to 3x120kg, 1RM of 130kg. Plenty of room for improvement without question!
