i know you obviously need the correct equipment, not looked into the cost of that yet but not scared off if it expensive as its all good stuff to go in the workshop

Anyone any experience of this?

reason i ask is i have got escort back from tracking, new wheels and tyres and it now drives like the corrado does, i.e: pulls all over the road, sometimes heavy to turn one way and sometimes the other way, yet sometimes it can be light steering?

Its really weird as if the front wheels are fighting.

Looking at the corrado it looks by eye that both front wheels are toe'ing out \...../ and i wonder if the escort is now similar, its the same place that have done the setup both times, although i've spanked the kerb in both cars so got just be that. But am told nothing is damaged

for peace of mind i wouldn't mind doing it myself, seem to fork out for tracking quite a lot as i keep replacing things

"If the car is set up with toe-out, however, the front wheels are aligned so that slight disturbances cause the wheel pair to assume rolling directions that do describe a turn. Any minute steering angle beyond the perfectly centered position will cause the inner wheel to steer in a tighter turn radius than the outer wheel. Thus, the car will always be trying to enter a turn, rather than maintaining a straight line of travel."

i'd just like to be able to adjust things to suit me and experiment

Camber is doable, did a few different settings on the yellow beeza, think its harder to get toe set up without equipment though

i like the look of adams method, plus i'm a fisherman so have the shock leader already

i might use a 30lb braid as it doesn't stretch like a mono

How I did the camber (fronts only) was to set one side, put wheels on off jack, drive round corner to check, drive back and adjust as necessary, repeat until happy

Very accurate using fishing line. It's what we do with the race car at college. We have a fixed rig that bolts to the car though

Why dont you just go to a place that know how to do tracking, rather than a mickey mouse place that aint got a clue.

Exactly, your recommendation for Micheldever is the best recommendation ever.

They have superb equipment and know their shit, the lad done our Polo there for a tenner. I'm gonna take the Astra up there this weekend if I get chance and have that done.

Thats the only place I will go.

They have one of the most advanced computer setup there in the country for geomatry settings.
And the service is top class.

It's proper good down there, thing is you have to go during the week as it gets so busy. It's like Argos the way they operate in a drive in system, queue up for tyres, get tyres fitted and move onto tracking when your number is called

Another thing with Micheldever is that they don't turn you away if the car is lowered like usual places as they always have a way around getting the equipment to work on lowered cars.
