Right as some of you who are friends with me on Facebook probably already know, me and a few mates have all bought this 1001 Beers to try before you die book and are trying to drink all beers in said book. The rule we set is that we have to drink the beers in a pub/restaurant/bar......to stop us just ordering them off the net and drinkin at home.

Theres no time limit on this but whoever gets it done first, or as close to complete as is possible gets a prize still discussing what that will be though.

So what I am asking of the good people of CS is can you recommend any pubs in your areas that will have some abnormal beers/ales? I could post the list up but would take longer, so perhaps you could put up the beers you know and location and ill see if its on the list.

Also any places you have visited that might be worth me checking out.

I am currently on 22 as I have been majorly slacking and busy.

The leader is on 49, aided by taking 2 weeks of work and doin a beer almost every day

Any help will be rewarded with me buying you a pint if I visit the place near you that you tell me about

Pitcher and Piano, or Slug and Lettuce usually do the higher class lagers?

There's a few pubs round Derby that have a lot of Camra stuff. Brewers Tap, and the Greyhound, both owned by the Derby Brewing Company.

Found their beer list

The top five.

1. Snake Dog IPA 7.1% - Flying Dog Brewery, Denver, Colorado. The Brewery’s hop monster – its citrus fruit aroma will hypnotise your senses!!

2. Gouden Carolus Triple 9% - Het Anker Brewery, Belgium.Top fermented in at length in cellar and bottle, it has a unique colour and a full flavour.

3. Schneider Aventinus 8% - The most majestic of wheat beers, direct from Schneider in Munich.

Once I managed to get extremely drunk off 4 pints there Neo. Was fine till I went outside and it just hit me... was 10%+ pints though.

If you're going to the north bar, get a load of the low % beers, otherwise it would be a wasted trip

If its on tap it has to be a pint, if there is a bottle equivalent, you can drink from the bottle. We decided half pints are not allowed

If you're thinking of heading to Leeds then i would recommend you stop at Huddersfield and hit The Grove, http://www.groveinn.co.uk. They have a couple of hundred beers from all round the world, so i would imagine a lot of them would be on your 1001 list.

Edit - If it includes ale then wetherspoons are doing their ale week towards the end of the month. You might get lucky there
