You might remember me saying that my car has been running really badly lately and overfueling by alot too. Well I had my car in for a full service and a rolling road tune up yesterday, went to pick it up and on the way home it was doing all the things it was doing before. i.e. idling at 3,000rpm, catching on the way back down the revs. Exhaust sounding like a helicopter and going bang after each gearchange. The technician said the car was running rich at high revs so he adjusted the adjustable fuel rate regulator and when it went on the power run it had lost alot of power since the last run! Regal had it rr'd at 170bhp, a local garage had it bosch rr'd at 171bhp but yesterday at Sanspeed it was coming up with 160bhp @ 7,000rpm. It feels alot slower too. I am so angry with them and it looks like my fears have come true! When he was fiddling with things he'd obviously fucked it all up and lost me a considerable ammount of power. Funnily enough though, even though power was down by more then 10bhp torque went up from 124 ib/ft to 130ib/ft. Can't understand it at all? What makes it even worse is that it's doing all the things still that made me take it to them in the first place. He said he had sorted the overfuelling issue out buts its backfiring worse than ever now and I thought the only thing that causes that is overfueling?
He wanted me to bring it in again today so he could run it on the rolling road again and have another look at it, was full of apologies but I couldn't bring it in as I had to be in work early. Now it's got to be either tomorrow morning or wait till next week!
**Awaiting all the narrow minded criticism**

Not selling it anymore no. Just concentrating on trying to get my lost bhp back and getting rid of the BANG everytime I change gear (at 7,500rpm!!)

Have you ever used that RR before? It might be inaccurate, especially if torque is up and power isnt.

no don;t trust em. however a superchip is poo. keep it for the raised rev limit and get UNICHIP'd at least.
as for torque your peak torque can go up but if you'r over fueling then your losing peak power cause your running too rich. your pistons how ever will be fine and your engine will run cooler cause of the extra petrol

Na I want to go with MBE, I'm really tempted to ditch the Dbilas and get some SBD bodies whilst I'm at it. I've already got the ported and flowed head and the high degree cams so with some pistons and injectors along with the MBE and SBD bodies I should be producing alot more power and torque. Just gonna cost me getting on for 3k.

The SBD stuff will be the best money can buy though. Paying for the quality i guess. Good luck dude

Email Renton to find out what engine managment system they used on L100. They had pooper chip and Unichip which were both poo.

no bad mapping. it was superchips that said the UNICHIP was poo. the mapping of a car is only as good as the operator

I've been quoted SBD bodies and MBE engine management fully fitted for 2k, how much are pistons fully fitted? Any idea how much injectors are fully fitted?

Pocketted pistons are about £400. Pocketting your original Pistons is about £100 i think. Speak to Matt C.

Pocketted pistons work well with Cams so having them does help.

I've had my standard pistons pocketed to house the 278degree cams but have been told that torque would greatly benefit if I got some uprated oversized pistons
