BIG UPDATE!
Started to strip the engine down
Then began to remove the large components such as the top inlet, surround pipes and also the ecotec.
The head was to come off, so off with the belts and the cam cover (Worst part of the whole thing!)
Once we disconnected both radiators and removed them we dropped the block and then left the task to put it in the boot by hand!
Alloys were taken, I removed the Headlights and took a set of rear lights to get working on, Sean dropped the back down "so it was easier to get stuff in and out".
Sean took the head to work and also the exhaust manifold and started smoothing the eco tec points to allow a better flow of waste gases. Should make a difference to the ease of airflow.
^^^START^^^
^^^FINISH^^^
^^^START^^^
^^^FINISH^^^
The head is now all stripped down (Not the Cams or Valves), ready to be sent off and refurbed. Block is a gonner due to the fact the 4th piston dropped like a bag of shite with little pressure on it, so possible a snapped conrod or a bolt sheered. So we are going take the Flywheel and clutch, sump and other parts from the block and have it scrapped. Then its the task of looking for another 1.6 block.
Will keep this thread updated rather than making another one!
