Removing the egr valve on pd engines throws up the eml, however settings can be adjusted using vagcom to pretty much disable the egr valve
Iv just did it on my ibiza fr no problem, heres the thread on seat cupra net if anyones interested, should be able to view it

I've done this on a couple, never made any noticeable difference.

or just snip the vac line and ram a bolt in each side blocking it from working but the car still thinks its there. happy days. running a volvo inlet plenum now though so il have it mapped out anyway. stupid things
