How much would you be put off buying a Cat D car?
Ive seen a car i like and it's cheaper but its a cat d. Should i be intrested or should i just ignore it??

as long as it has all the alignment documents to show its bob on then its fine
however they are harder to sell on from experiance

Aslong as it's cheaper, I wouldn't have a problem. Cars are written off for a bumper headlight and a wing these days, nothing to do with the car being bent or needing aligned. Selling on is something that would be harder, but if you buy it cheap, then you sell it cheap again to make up for the fact it's Cat D

so long as you know the full extent of the damage before and the repair is decent i wouldnt have a problem. there are far worse cars driving around that arnt registered whch you would buy without thinking anything of. if its priced accordingly then happy days

less bother bout seelling it on as ill more than likely have it for 3 years or so.
Cat d puts me off but it around 3k cheeper for a low millage car with full history.

My VR6 is a Cat D, just needed a door.
Cat D can also be stolen recovered so it may not have been smashed to bits either..

I would definetly buy that, that's well cheap! And exactly as I mentioned, only a few parts replaced, but Cat D!! My mate is looking to buy a FRS that's Cat D, but as Fro mentioned, it's just stolen recovered and only did 10 miles whilst it was gone.

yea we where talking about this at work today as one of the guys has only ever brought cars at auction and fixed them.
He generally said as long as you know what you are looking for then its fine. But make sure you check all repairs as some cars may have had a nasty knock and it destroyed all the sensors, or whoever selling it brought it at auction and is making money off it.
But again, he has a 5 series brought at auction, it was stolen recovered but never cat'd, so he will make big £££ there, to be honest every car has some sorta history, just not recorded so its not the end of the world, just have a proper look before you buy

I wouldn't have any problems buying a Cat D or even C as long as its been repaired properly.

To help put your mind at ease.
NOT written off. Insurance company repaired after my £500 excess.
I remember reading somewhere, and it may have been on hear, that if the air bag blows it's an immediate write off.
If the damage is as described go for it.

Depends on ££ doesn't it. That would be slam pannel, front bumper headlights Bonnets. Probably beat out the wings. Haven't checked but have seen some good fabia vrs's cat'd at very reasonable prices

if the shell is creased etc then that would be a write off!!

It's pretty much all to do with cost of repair.
So long as you inspect it properly or get someone in the know to check over it then it's fine.

There are thousands of un-recorded CAT C/D cars that 99.9% of people wouldnt bat an eye lid at.. Not sure why everyone has to get all limp-dicked when they hear about a CAT C/D car, its as if as soon as its been involved in an accident its some kind of mobile coffin? get a grip guys!

Jealous. Best handling fwd car I've ever driven. So so so so good it's mind boggling. Seats are epic also. Plus they are rare in White and even rarer with the lux pack.
Buy that now, was looking at a similar one for £13.5k in June!

so why did it take so ong for them to find the car
Stolen and recovered is normally after the insurance has paid off and in the past thats around 3 months
Doesnt add up that
on the other hand the R26 looks a good buy
