hi just looking for some advice as i cant really find out who's to blame me or the other driver

last night reversing out of a parking space done all my checks before setting off to make sure there was no cars there. i had barley moved my car a foot and a car hit the rear end of mine.

police have been involed but they have nae really said alot

where do i stand any help would be much appreicated cheers

It all depends, it could be you as they will say its down to observation or the other driver as its priority to give way to reversing cars.

More than likely your fault, same happened to my mum a month or two back. Woman didnt stop and carrried in driving until she had scraped all down the side of her car

I'd say it was probably your fault as well to be honest. Sounds like you entered the path of oncoming traffic

the thing is i am not sure about who is in the right. got witness saying it was her that was more in the wrong as she was on the wrong side of the road and going far to fast for the car park as it is a 5mph speed limit

Unless there was a witness who can say if he was i.e speeding then the insurers will look at it as you reversing without looking making it your fault. You can say you checked etc but then wha proof do you have really.

cheers for the replies but still in the same situation. i have not heard nothing yet from the other driver so will wait and see what happens

I may go round driving into people who are reversing out of spaces I have a few stone chips that need repairing

the car park was near empty was speaking to a few mates the car from the way all the cars were lined up so made it harder to see. i always check to make sure its clear before i go as there is always the one or two folk flying road it like its a race track

in a nutshell yeah, as unfortuneatly the right of way is of the person on the road between the spaces not those coming out of them
