i had my aston martin v8 vantage experience day today at thruxton.
i done the ferrari 430 scuderia one last year and the 2 cars could not be more different was nice to get a comparison between the mental loud, stripped out carbon clad v8 race car for the road and a refined gentlemans cruiser with power.
tiff needell was giving out 3 passenger laps in the white m3, going sideways around most of the track, but for £125 i thought it was too much so passed on the offer.
the mazda 3 mps which we were taken out in is very quick and sounds great on full boost. then i got to drive a porsche cayman for 3 laps which was very enjoyable, sounded great but a little too cramped inside for me. the aston was brilliant, loved the sound, the interior, the power and the v8 rumble. it had the paddle shift gearbox and the changes were jerky but bearable. had a couple of scary moments as it was soaking wet, back end stepped out twice but managed to hold it.
anyway, pics:

I want to do something like this next year, but im always put off by ohh you dont get full power, you only get five mins in the car, you have to spend 8.5 hours there but only 20 in a car quotes. whats worth it and what isnt?

my session started at 11:50.
had to watch a video first about the track, lasted about 25-30 mins.
then straight into the mazda for about 5 laps, then straight into the porsche for 3 laps, then waited 15 mins for the aston and did 4 laps even though you're only meant to do 3.
lasts a good hour at the very least.
when i done the ferrari one there was no waiting at all.

oh and they did say the cars have rev limiters on, but you can still go over 100mph even on a soaking wet track which was very scary for a novice like me.

Leighton did one of these the other day, said that he has to sign something to say that he was responsible for all damage. Or you could buy insurance which gave you £5k of cover, which in one of those cars won't go far.

Sounds good Ben, least you didn't pay a fortune for it, that's the only way I'd do one is money off etc

i didn't have to sign anything, you are covered under their insurance policy. someone crashed a single seater when i was in the aston, was quite funny the way they took out all the braking point cones

oh yeah, definitely wouldn't pay my own money for it as it's not worth it. but using the tesco clubcard vouchers it's basically free so got to do it really just to experience it.
i got 88% out of 100 for my driving style which isn't too bad at all
it was a lot harder to go around corners in the aston than the ferrari, the 430 was flat all the way through whereas the aston was a bit tail happy if you went a bit too fast. fun though. the adrenalin only just wore off

yes. the bloke in the breifing room didn't mention a price until i saw it on a wall outside.
you got the chance to meet the man, get 3 passenger laps and a dvd of the drive around for 125 quid.
funny enough i saw him about 5 times throughout my time their as he was just walking around saying hello to everyone and chatting the ladies up
mind you, my 2 6x9 photo's of me in the aston were £25

That above one. Isn't the tax wrong? I pay more on my 2.0 pre 2006 civic
That's saying a 3.0 2010 car is less? Thought everything in that sort of band was £435 after 06?
