All part of the Americans plans to put Liverpool out of buisness. Its a conspiracy the likes of which Corsa_Nut has never seen.

Are you saying this conspiracy is only part of an even bigger conspiracy whereby stupid people are brainwashed into enjoy football for some reason?

The plot thickens.

Very happy about this, it takes some/alot of the responsibility of signing and selling players away from Roy. He had a mixed bag at Tottenham (and a scout at Arsenal). NESV have a track record of using people like this with the Red Sox, all about analysising players above and beyond how normal scouts will. They have said that we need to bring in good prospects before they realise there top price, which I agree with. Hopefully Comolli has learnt alot from his time at Spurs.

I just hope it doesn't turn in to a committee that ends up managing the club (once Roy leaves).

It's all well and good having a scouting team to suggest players, and a team working to get those players for a good fee and wage. But should be the manager and him alone that makes the final call on who the club tries to sign.

I'd be more than happy if we adopted a mix between english and european set-ups as it looks like we are, get a young coach in to focus on coaching but have more of a say on transfers than at Inter for example. Safe guards us a bit. I'm just hopeful this means that we can sign some future stars before they are discovered (and be willing to spend a decent amount to make that happen). Someone like Pato, Alves, Ronaldo, Aguero you know

Yeah if it improves the scouting and speeds up negotiating then I'm all for it. Just not sure if we'll find a top class manager willing to accept he doesn't control who we sign if that's how far the control goes. You wouldn't get fergie working like that!

Yeah but both Mourinho & Benitez accepted it at Inter (and that's with less say on transfers than I expect they would get at the 'new look' Liverpool) obviously they both inherited good squads though. It's all about striking a balance of protecting ourselves from managers hunches/fuck ups yet still attracting the right manager/coach.
