Thats why I went with the D700, its noise handling is excellent, pair that with good quality glass and you've got it nailed. Its when you try and recover poorly exposed jpegs too that noise comes flying at you.

ace shots tiger

which other lenses do you have for it? i'm thinking about taking the plunge and buying some more serious gear, been looking at the D700 and 5d MK2, but can't decide between the two i assume you rate it highly?

The D700 is awesome mate.

I shot these with the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 HSMII, I have the 85mm f1.8 too which is a lovely portrait lens, my other camera is the D200 with the 18-200mm VR f4-5.6 DX lens and the 10.5mm DX fisheye.

The 18-200mm is simply incredible when it comes to studio lit work at about f11, even with the D200. With the D300 i'm sure it would be even more epic.
