Before anyone says this is a corsa forum (nic) lol I know some on here have experience with vw's and I am looking at changing the astra for one. The question is which one is the better car?
There are 2 for sale that I've found one is a supercharged mk4 the other a slightly modded mk5 both the exact same price. Yes the charged one sounds the better car but is it?
Anyone help out?

I'd go for the mk5 too. Look much nicer imo. Driven the mk5 and was very nice to drive and quicker than I thought.

Agreed fully, the only dead noticable differences between a mid spec 1.4 and an R32 in the mk5s are the wheels and exhausts. I consider myself to be pretty good with identifying cars but I saw a 1.4 or something with colour coded bumpers and just R32 wheels the other day and had to have a good look at it to realise it's not the range topping 3.2 V6.
I'd go out with a view to driving both, see which is better and go from there.

From a looks POV, the Mk4 pisses over the Mk5. The Mk5 just looks like a standard Golf with big gay wheels and a gay chrome grill. The Mk4 looks proper beefy and you can tell them apart from the norm

Prefer the looks of the Mk4... it's just those gash wheels and grill that spoil the Mk5

I said noticable difference. If I drive past a 1.4 mk4 golf Match I know what it is straight away, if I drive past a mk4 R32 I know exactly what it is without even focusing on it.
Same excercise with a mk5 and it's not as easy. I didn't say there was no difference, just that it's much more difficult to tell.

To be fair, there's a smart Mk5 going round Kiddy low on CH's and it looks pretty cool.

deffo mk5
mk4 is the worst handling/looking golf ever made
but tbh, I would probably just end up buying something different as they're way over priced.
