Ive seen loads go for nothing round this way but possibly different areas and all that.

out of interest whats the procedure/costs/hassle to get that plate off the car and sell it on?

Go to local DVLA office, fill in some paper work and pay a couple off quid transfer/retention money. Wait a week or 2.
