Guy at work (Main M.O.T tester) told me today that as of january VOSA have made ALL types of hid kits illegal. Even the e-marked or supposedly road legal ones. Only projector lights are legal. Obviously because they come standard in cars and hids don't.

Anyway just thought i'd mention something incase people don't know.

Yep like early IS200's and Renault Laguna's.No projectors headlights but factory Xenons.

HID's can be fitted and set-up correctly on the beam setter.

Thats nothing to do with Xenons.Normal lights can be like that if they arent set correctly.

Well it's usually people with exhausts scraping along the floor behind their car, window tints and HID that have their headlights set incorrectly

No its not, the majority of cars that have headlights out of align are people who have tried to replace a bulb themselves, people who tend to fit HID kits are car midders/enthusiast's that usually have an idea of what they are doing.

This website claims their kits are fully road legal and MOT friendly:

When I fitted my HIDs today I had a wee bit of fiddling about to make sure I had the bulb sitting correctly and not at an angle or too high

Was no different from fitting a normal replacment so cant see why most HID kits are blinding. Its when bulbs (normal or HID or brighter) are fitted incorrectly that dazzle you

Never been flashed with mine in 3 years, passed MOT's with no issue.
My standard lights are poor to the point of dangerous. I'm not sure how the Osram Nightbreakers have developed in recent years but I bet they aint as good as HID's.
