Anyone got any experience of these?
Could do with a little more poke out of the clio, but not wanting risk blowing up the clutch/turbo etc. Also don't want to sacrifice too much MPG

They're all essentially variable resistors
We used to fit autodelta ones to alfa's but we also used to use some eBay specials at a lower price
Both give similiar and noticeable results but they only increase the amount of fuel being injected, we also "modified" the boost parameters too
One downside was it was clogging up dpf's if being used for short journeys

Can of worms on here tbh.
I had a DTUK one on my Astra CDTI 150 and it was great. It rollered just short of 200bhp.
Only thing I found was I had to turn it down (it was adjustable) because at the high settings it smoked too much!
These guys are good.

Ive got one on my CDTi 150. Very noticable, smokes alittle more than usual. Never had it RR'd though, might go for a map at the start of next year though.
Edit- Mine is from DTUK

Actual story is, depending on box/car they are nearly as good as a remap, proper one's like dtuk are not the same as a £5 ebay resistor.
Yes they don't alter boost (some do now actually), that's why it's engine dependant, the vaux 1.9cdti's must alter the boost themselves to compensate.
A map will always be better, sometimes not by very much though.
What you'll hear on here is that they are just an expensive ebay resistor and will quickly cause your engine to blow up and kill your grandkids.

Not looking to get a map as theres nowhere local to do it, plus its much more expensive.
Was looking at this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Renault-Clio-1-5-dCi-Diesel-Tuning-Box-Chip-/230513287539?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35aba9a173
Says its adjustable etc.

I'd do some research on it, I'm almost sure I had one of them years ago and it was just a resistor in a fancy box.
In general, that's far too cheap brand new for a proper one.

The one I bought off of you does the job and still works
It brings the power down the rev range a fair bit and if you don't have it set just right then in causes faults. But other than that it's good fun.

That was one of the good ones, iirc I got one of the ones Chris posted before that one and it clearly did nothing at all.

Second hand, the DTUK boxes are always on ebay, 19.cdti ones go for around 100-150 for example.

I'd wait until after the snow and cold now, by the time you get a chance to give it a blast it won't feel as fast any more.
Definitely worth it though.

It does, it's just not getting a bit of road for weeks, I got my box before I got my astra didn't get a chance to put my foot down for months because I got it at the end of december when we had -5 for 3 months.

The box to get for the astra 150 is now the CRD-T box, their astra went up to 215bhp with the box alone.

CRD-T is one of the ones that also controls the turbo.

200 bhp and a nice smooth smokeless power delivery from the green box would do me.

Id have thought it would be better for the engine if the turbo was matched to the increase in fueling.
