And that's your problem. The batteries have a memory and by charging it all the time your ruining it.

Run the phone until it turns off, then charge it over night, do the same a few days in the row and you'll find the memory will increase and you won't need to keep charging it.
It's the same as laptops.

That says the opposite.

Lithium batteries need to be kept topped up and should be ran down flat around once a month.
Memory thing doesn't make a difference.

I've noticed mine getting worse recently now it's a year old

Wasn't it only NiCd batteries that had a 'memory' too?

Sorry about it not being in geek day...

It's not normal tho, the phone was on STANDBY in my pocket, bar the 3 txts I sent, and when I look 5 hours later 62% of the battery was used... That is not normal.

If it's under a year old, can the place you bought it from not replace it under warranty?

I had the same problem with an o2 XDA although I only had it a few days, so I swapped it for a Nokia 5800 whose battery lasts like a week!

I've had my iPhone just over a year now and the battery is still doing fine! Its not had an easy life, it even got dropped in a foot of snow a couple of days ago I've had mine on charge nearly every night for the last year as well, only running the battery completely down accidentally sometimes, so i don't believe in this "memory" thing too much

EDIT: Having said that, my dads iPhone is just over a year old and his battery hardly lasts his day at work anymore

I'll wait and see how it is today, if it uses loads on standby again, I'll ring orange.

If your phone has been searching for signal in your pocket then it could drain the battery extremely quickly.

An iPhone won't last long though, Orange won't be able to help much unless you have insurance, if not you need to talk to Apple who the warranty is with.

That's true. But it was at work, a place that always is in the 'G3' network, with full signal.

Turn the brightness of the screen down. If you've got it on full whack it will drain as well, even though you've said it's be on standby/sleep.

Do you have emails on your phone? If so do you have it so they are pushed through straight away?

Screen brightness is automatic isn't it? Definitely turn push off if you don't need it, can really see the difference!
