Been having a go at taking some photos in RAW format and taking more control over my shots. Here's now I got on.

This one is over exposed. It's in a tunnel which is walled up at one end so all the light comes in from the right. I took the photo at ISO 800, but was wondering if it would be worth using a setting, or maybe it would benefit from some HDR? Either way, I think I'll have another go at it one day

Tried giving this an old fashioned feel to it, as I was using this really old film lens that I found. Not sure about the photo, but I like the effect.

Not sure how successful this shot was. I've edited it quite heavily lo make it look like the light is illuminating the sign but it's a bit meh.

nice pics, deffo second one for HDR, take 3 bracketted pictures, for ease of use or if you dont own a tripod look for the auto bracket option in your cam

I think I'll get a little cheapo tripod for now. It wont get a lot of use but will do the job I need, then I'll do the HDR

i got one from argos for about 12 quid its absolutely superb for the money, really versatile

Id lower the iso, use a wide aperture and soft flash on the second pic, should frame it nicely against the wall.

Was pretty happy with the way this came out. I think it's quite moody and provocative.

RAW is ideal for HDRs, you only need the one pic then change the exposure in RAW editing and save the different exposures, then HDR them

its better then using one normal exposure but its not ideal, its still not as good as taking multiple pictures using different exposures

There's a name for that technique, but it's not a true HDR as Steve mentioned. A friend was telling me about it the other day with regards to the signpost photo. (Not sure I'm going to be able to get down to it now for another attempt due snow)...
