Thoughts on this camera?
I want to take up photography as a hobby (I would like a hobby other than work ) but I read on some websites that it's best to start off with one of the cameras that's sort of part way between a point and shoot and a DSLR, so I can learn how to take pictures properly before getting a "proper" camera.
Only thing that concerns me is that it takes AA batteries, no charger (or rechargeable batteries as far as I can make out) so I'd obviously have to buy that also.
My current camera is a Sony DSC-W35 which I got as a present a couple of years ago I think but is only 7.2 megapixel and doesn't really have many features.

I would disagree with getting a bridge first if you ultimately plan to go to dslr, might as well go straight to dslr.
I'd advise against AA batteries also, you at least want a built in rechargeable one.
You won't get a dslr for anywhere near that though so depends how soon you foresee wanting to upgrade.

either geet a small form factor or a proper DSLR these midway cameras serve no purpose, and just end up being a pain because of there size without actually giving you the quality of a dslr
