Not surprised really. The fans wanted him gone last season and there were rumours that the venky's lot wanted to appoint a new manager. Wonder if he still maintains that he should be in charge of a massive club. Surely his reputation has taken a big hit since the Bolton days.

Wouldn't call him shockingly bad, he got Bolton stabilised as a premiership team and he leaves Blackburn 1 point off 8th. Has a style of play i wouldn't fancy watching but he gets ok results. No worse than Pulis.
Average manager but a bit of a cunt.

Boring as fuck but comes from the Redknapp school of wheeling and dealing so he always ended up with good players.

Although it's probably his outrageous claim the other week which makes him seem worse than he is to me

He didnt quite get them relegated though unlike Keegan/Kinnear/Shearer.
As Hammer said, boring style of play, I'd hate to watch it week in week out (probably one reason why he got sacked at Newcastle) He's no worse than Pulis though whos team is fucking shocking to watch. He just comes across as an arrogant cunt but thats nothing to do with his managerial qualities which must be half decent as hes been around in the top league for ages.
Rather him than Gary Megson.

The football we were playing toward the end of his Bolton tenure was shockingly bad. We got results but it was horrible to watch. I actually gave up my season ticket for that reason. Ok he wasn't in charge at the end of the season but the damage was done and there was no sign of it getting better. Apart from that he was spot on. The players respected him and he guided us through the most succesful period I have ever witnessed as a Bolton fan.
He has made a cunt of himself on more than one occasion though!

He got even better when he left us for Forest. Called us all sorts of names. Was like a school playground.
