i just assumed everyone got Xmas bonuses and then bonus later on next year cos thats what i have had in nearly all my jobs apart from working at Supermarket.
probably been a billion posts about it but what does everyone do as a job ?

saw some people work for NHS (i used to be IT workshop manager for 2 Hillingdon and Mount Vernon and got a Xmas bonus ) so how come you guys dont ?

oh and to make it clear this isnt a "im better than you" sort of post, just wanted to know.

for the record im a software engineer in the freight forwarding industry

Work at a local Ford garage doing a number of things, had hours cut to 5 per day, not many jobs around here and it's better than being sat at home sponging off the taxpayers.

Danny - seems there are a lot of cut hours and stuff like that going on. Its nuts but as you said, much better than being unimployed

I think a lot of people will be affected with the economy in the state it is, basic salaries are a push to get paid never mind bonuses.

I think even worse than that though the majority of the bigger companies not paying bonuses have got a ready made excuse in the recession.

I get a bonus, but havn't a clue until I get my payslip.

And I'm a kitchen designer/surveyor for social housing refurbishments for a major manufacturer.

Far play tho Steve if you get a nice big bonus. Some companires just have different ways of doing things.
I haven't had a pay rise in 3 years, but we still get nice big bonus' at crimbo and a bigger one at the end of the financial year depending on performance.

i was surprised we got one this year. i work for a pretty small software house but we are in a niche market so it kinda helps.
only cos the company has ploughed just over £1m into the new software we are developing.. So after that i didnt expect any sort of bonus.
once our new software is out and polished then yeah i expect a massive one

I work for the NHS and we don't get Bonuses on the A4C pay system. We do get a set increment every year though until we reach the top point of our pay bands

Software dev, I don't get christmas bonus.

I get quarterly bonus depending on performance / commission over billable target. However don't always hit it.

i found out today that im getting a christmas bonus, no idea how much though, wasnt even expecting one, it's only a small privately owned garage, and i've not been there that long, but he specifically told me that i will be getting one

I work at a Nuclear Power Station as a Health Physics Monitor. I work as a contractor though so i dont get a Xmas bonus like the Station employed staff. But i do get paid more than them so im not fussed tbh.
