Was just thinking about it that I've never actually had a job starting @ 9am and finishing @ 5pm, have you?

Theme park: 10:45am-8pm

Boat yard: 8:30am-4:30pm

AV salesman: 8:45am-6pm

Renault: 8:30am-5:30pm

Hospital: 8am-4:30pm

my hours are supposed to be 8:30 till 5 so technically thats 9 to 5

8am till 6pm most nights - contracted for 9am till 5.30pm. If I worked those hours I'd never get everything done. 5.30pm is leaving early for me.

When I worked for Fiat I used to work 9-5 monday to friday.

I work shifts now though

Nope when I've had set hours it was 9.00 till 6.00 or 8.30 till 5.00

But it just isn't, he doesn't start at 9 so which ever way you look at it, he doesn't do 9-5

8.30 to 5 here. But i generally mince around for 30 mins before starting actual work

8:30 - 4:30 with a 30 minute lunch. I tend to do overtime at time and a half though and to get stuff done go in on Saturdays for 4 or 5 hours, again at time and a half

I can't understand people that work extra time before and after they're meant to... I mean I'll do it from time to time no problem, but if you don't have the time to get work done then it's down to your boss to realise there's a problem and increase your hours and pay.
