I brought my corsa B 1.4 sri with the 16v eco-tec lump about seven months ago. i have always thought it was quick but never bothered to time it, just took it for granted that it did 0-60 in its standard book time of 10.5sec.
At the weekend i got a split timer stop watch off my mate and went out for a spin. With me and him in the car and a full tank the car did a shocking 0-60 in 8.8sec and then a 8.6. at first i thought it was my mate timing it wrong so i did one more run making sure he timed it correctly and once again it did it in 8.8 sec all it has is a pipercross induction kit, but now i am starting to think the previous owner may have tuned it a little more than that, like a set of cams or something. i don't really know why its as quick as it is? does anyone have any idea?

I doubt it very much. Please take it to Santa Pod so we can all laugh at you when your 1/4 mile comes in at 18 seconds

I know how to use a stopwatch who do u think i am a nova driver trust me it shocked me as much as it has you, i didn't believe it so i did alot of runs to check it and they were all about the same around the 8.8 mark. yes there will be inaccuracy in it but only a few hths of a sec. As for the comment not unless its a 1.8 or 2.0. You chat sh*t the pug 106 rally does it in 8 flat (book time) and its a 1300, so don't bother postin a reply unless you know wot the f*ck your talkin about

The vauxhall figure is 0-100kmh or 0-62mph, that extra 2 mph might not sound like much but it makes all the difference, and if you had performance cams you would know about it.

The 1.3 8v 106 Rallye does 0-60 in 9.4 seconds
The 1.6 8v 106 Rallye does 0-60 in 8.8 seconds.
The 1.6 16v 106 GTi does 0-60 in 7.7 seconds.

Very true, probaby a bit of that and a bit of inacurate timing and a bit of wrong speedo.... has the car got 17's on? coz that can affect the speedo. Have you checked it isn't a 1600 lump under the bonnet?

1st mistake: Reading Max Power
2nd mistake: Believing Max Power
Time will be out because:
Stopwatch timings are very inaccurate
Speedo will be inaccurate
Reactions of stopwatch user.
For example the book time for my old Rover 114GTa was 11.6 secs to 60mph.
My mate timed it as 9.6sec to 60mph.
So its very off because it got that much lower with an extra person aswell.
Get it on the strip and see for sure.

sounds like your timing is crap. also do it to 65 as speedos are not accurate

i raced my m8 off the lights and he has a clio 16v and beat him. the hardest car i've ever raced though. i know it sounds dodgy but im serious. his was a k reg with 108k on it, so it could be dying.

If i self time my corsa 1.0, it does it in 15-16 seconds....where as book is 19!
Best bet is to get some profesional devices and use them to test times, go to a test track or a track day.
