well to be honest i only want to put the 1.4 in because i can pick one up for handy money over here as the 1.6 is harder found and heard their a softer engine.

From personal experience i've found the smallblock 16v engines to be pretty pap.

Considered a 1.6 8v swap (Nova GTE/GSI engine)

Like everything else i suppose you get good ones and bad ones.
The one that was in my silver corsa before i XE'd it wasnt too bad, but the headgasket still managed to go on it the day before it was meanto come out

well ive considered an 8v swap out of a cavalier as novas are hard found over here now. but i think i might stick to going for a 1.4 16v swap as i havent heard many bad reports about them.

Wont insurance be more expensive with an engine transplant over one which came with a 1.4 or 1.6 standard?

well wat the insurance companys dont know wont hurt them thats the way i see it. the reason behind the change is that the 1.2 8v is dead to the world so want somehting quicker and dont really want to change the car as i cant find a decent 1.4 16v for good money in rio verde green.

Well in that case you may aswell look out for a 1.6. The same work needed but with more power.

yeah but change of engine is cheaper for now. As you couldnt insure a 1.4 16v at 18 in ireland with out them ripping the arse clean outta it and charging you silly money.

What IF you get caught? Whats the penalty, 1000 pound fine and 6 points or something. Can you imagine paying insurance with that on your licence.
What IF you crash? And the insurers find out its not a 1.2 and tbh stevie wonder could tell the difference between both engines. Wouldnt that make the insurance void and therefore would that mean you would need to pay for any third party injuries because your insurer wont?

Have you considered those?
