We've got a Samsung U900 mobile which I think will be locked (to 3, that's who issued the phone anyway), we need it to work with an Orange SIM card.
Are there any free/cheap ways of unlocking it, or should I just visit my friendly local mobile shop to unlock it for me?

Local mobile shop only charged me a fiver last time, which I didn't think was too bad.

I was researching this online, some websites show you how to do it but some people said it fucked up their phones and wouldn't even let them use their old SIM 
Think I'll just go down the local place and get them to do it.

These places have "boxes" they use for unlocking phones, not just software with a USB cable only so I guess these "boxes" must generate an unlock code of some sort?

I asked 3 how much they'd charge to give me the unlock code, they said £15.
If only I knew someone that worked at 3...
