Off to look at one at the main dealer at lunch.
Opinions?
Main plus for me is 50ish MPG and the tuning potential.

My flatmate has one, I have an Ibiza Tdi sport which is pretty much the same car...Ace cars, listen out for knocking as a result of worn bushes - paintwork isn't good on them + check for leaks. Make sure it has been regularly serviced and belts have been done. Other than that there isn't really anything I can think of- what are the details of the one you're looking at?

If the timing belts been done make sure the water pump has been done too as these are common for failing and shod be replaced with the belt
Ibizas are prone for front bushes failing, drop links can knock too but isnt a big deal. Top mounts are common too

It's crucial the belt has been done at around 60k, same with the waterpump, big thing on these...
Check the carpet behind the front seats, on some the door seal isn't great and lets water in, never experienced this myself but seen a lot of topics about it
Always advisable when buying a VAG car to run it through VAGCOM but if it's a main dealer you got someone to run back to so not as important
Saw averaged indicated 68mpg back from Leeds (300+ miles)
As above knocking from front end is usually the lower arm bushes, these can be changed to Cupra bushes which are a lot stiffer, known problem on Fabia's but cheap enough job and won't need doing again
If you start it on a really, really cold day the coolant light may flash, VAG issue on a whole, the sensor prongs in the coolant bottle get gummed up, simply replacing the bottle for £12 cures this
Other than that... Decent cars, nothing has gone wrong on mine (touch wood), should be running over 220bhp next week

Not being rude but the trip computers on the VAG cars are shocking. 68MPG?!? Yeah alright then lol.
Best I every managed over a tank in my ibiza was 56.4MPG and the trip computer was telling me 61.2.

My de-catted ibiza ran 8.2 to 60 at gti inters last year.
As the others have said, mainly wishbone bushes, rear engine steady and dmf, but if its a main dealer then it shouldnt have anything major wrong. To check the front bushes, put your foot between the spokes on the wheel and try and jump up and down, if there's lots of movement they need replacing.

That's why I said indicated, I was doing Fuelly at the time though and it was over 60mpg that trip.

Not bad cars clutches need upgrading of you look for more power , I have a mate with one that's remapped q7 turbo and a intercooler had 4k spent on it and it's nearly as quick as my xe corsa

My Fabia (and Ibiza with the same engine) got around 40mpg mainly town diving to work. Remap made little to no difference to the mpg.
Trip computer on current ibiza is miles out. Fabia wasn't so far out until mapped.
Standard remapped one should be as quick as your corsa, one with all that work should be faster.

Is an XE quicker than an E36 M3 or 182's? My mapped beeza was same speed as them on the straights at Oulton

Very easily remapped for around £300 and wont have to worry about upgrading the clutch as long as the torque is kept below 300lb ft

Revos are often down to £250 too and special offers. Limited for choice up here and my nearest revo dealer which was still 60 miles away is now shut down
