I just dont get insurance these days, just being currious and doing some quotes, i found that a 1.6 1993 mx-5 is considerably cheaper for me to insure than the likes of 1.2 corsa b, mk3 golf 1.4 etc. Find it rather strange, as its RWD bigger engine and a 'sports car'. Im only 18 and not had my licence a year yet so no ncb, anyone shed some light on to why this seems to be the case?

corsa's and golf's are seen to be more boy racer cars i imagine and youngsters seem to be penalised for this, 5 door corsa probs be cheaper or an estate of sort and diesels seem to be cheeper

Its all down to the risk factor.. More young lads buy and write off hatchbacks.

I agree with this thread. I can insure an Astra GSi turbo cheaper than a 1.8 Corsa C. Strange thing is insurance.
