as some of you may know i have a post up in the help section about my car over revving. when i fitted my new manifold (bought second hand) i found it difficult to fit the vacuum hose that goes into the box (has a copper pipe coming from it) it would go in a slight bit but not all the way. the previous owner had used a real thick paint on the manifold and after getting rid of the paint the pipe was able to screw in all the way..... But it wouldnt go tight!!! so now it sort of wobbles around quite a lot and if im honest is very loose. i;m thinking that this is the reason or part of the reason why its revving so high.
Was just wandering if there's anyway i can fix the thread inside the box or do something to tighten up the vaccuum pipe? really at wits end with my car revving like mad all the time caining the fuel atm too

If the threads gone, it needs repairing - bodging it wont fix it, for long. Post up a picture of what's wrong, it might need an insert put it in.

I think its pretty safe to say thats causing the problem mate. They need to be 100% air tight

tbh if you're going to bodge it anyway you'll do more damage trying to bodge the threads. Might as well just use silicon to seal it.
But my ideal would be to get it repaired properly.

Just looked at the video, is it the two bosses that are fucked? If so just get them re-welded, looks quite simple tbh

think its the inside mate. like i said the previous owner had painted it in that real thick red shit never seen anything like it. the brake servo used to do up tight when i first got it though.

Have You changed that bolt yet?
To gt it repaird you could get the treads tapped a bigger size, of have new thread boss's welded on. It if was me personally I would be wrapping lots of PTFE around the servo pipe and the other one just now to make sure that is definetly the problem.

Like i said in my previous post, it appered to not catch it with my mantzel but when the powerbox was bolted down it was just catching it and no more, resulting in the manifold not sealing bu about 1/2mm causing the exact same problems as you.
Im just saying what ive had experiance wise with these . . . . . . . . or dont you want advice

advice is allways appreciated.. suppose mantzel is slighly different to mine. mine was made by flame on here. but on mine you can clearly see a gap though? ill go get some plumbers tape now and see if it sorts the problem. cheers ryan

Im not sure about the differences in the box as ive never seen a replica one, could also try spraying WD40 around where you think it is drawing air, a change in noise would be heard when the WD40 get sucked in. It may help you narrow the air leak down a bit
