Last year I payed £555 to insure my 2.0 corsa, tpft with all mods declared. Then in september I changed the car to a corsa gsi with no increase in the premuim obviously because the gsi is less powerfull than the xe corsa.
This year I've had the renewal come through for the gsi and its £706. I'm aware insurance prices have increased alot but here's what I find odd.
Currently the gsi is off the road having a c20let conversion so I rang my insurance and told them to quote me a price for the new policy to start with my xe corsa instead of the gsi. I was expecting the premium to be more than the £706 they wanted for the gsi but I ended up getting quoted £669 for the 2.0 corsa???.
To sum it up its cheaper for me to insure my c20xe corsa with every mod than it is to insure a standard gsi what's that all about?

The gsi is on a modified policy because it has a exhaust and an alarm. Both cars also have cat 1 alarms.

Must be the GSi badge then like I said above? Not totally sure but there was alot of difference between a CDX and Sport when I was getting quotes (1.4s)

I paid £650 to insure my 1.6 Sport in April 2010, i Valver'd it in July, costing me an extra £235, i sold up got the BMW, cost an additional £90
I have a Corsa SXI with a 1.4 8v fitted, and they offered to refund me £11 if i sold my Beemer & was to use the Corsa.
Fucked up much...? Thats a modified car policy with HIC as well.

Bit of an update. Just gave brentacre a call and got quoted £639 with protected ncb.
Its getting cheaper, can anyone recommend any other insurance companies that will insure a c20xe corsa?

tbh it will get to the point were people will be driving around with no insurance and no tax
and then finally were people just cant even afford fuel no more, it really fucks me off that insurance is so high, for your 1st 3 years ok i can see why it will be steep, But this whole increase across the board is bullshit !
