no, its just folk saying 'warped'
When you sit at lights with your foot on the brake. Hot pads will leave a slight layer on the hot discs, which in turn generate heatspots

Could be as I ran shite EBC pads and got brake judder after one or two laps, bought some decent ferodo's and never felt it again

Warped discs exist. Metal gets hot, it bends, what's so hard to understand about that?
That gauge proved it, how can you say it doesn't exist when the proof is right there on the video?
The discs on mine are absolutely fucked. They are hard to use even normal driving due to the fact they're so warped, oh & did I mention that they're starting to crack due to being so warped? Pad deposits my arse.

Same with really hot discs and cooling them quickly. You could feel it on my astra discs when you ran your finger across them, they had heat spots aswell
Seen it on lorry brake discs aswell and badly cracked

I guess that did come out a bit abrupt, this topic just brings up the frustration Pistonheads caused me when they tried to give me a big debate about my discs being fine when I asked if Nitrac discs are prone to warping.

Graham point out to us on the video that showed the discs were 'warped' due to intense heat?
Or the part where they were placed under a microscope to prove no deposits were on the surface.
Graham had glowing discs on his car therefore they must have been so hot they reached the 1100+ degrees C needed to alter their physical form. However pads, brake fluid, tyres, wheel paint and anything close to that kind of heat was unscathed

That gauge thingy showed it was warped? It was changing depth as the disc turned = warped.
How do you know what temperature you need to warp a disc? Standard discs stand up to less heat than uprated discs. How do you know what discs were on the Scooby? How do you know that all the other stuff was unscathed? You are picking my argument to pieces but leaving your own argument open.

It was changing depth due to what though? deposits that you can't even see for the most part.
You're not looking for chunks the size of penies of the surface.
Nearly all car manufactures rotors are made from the same metals. Which primarily will be grey cast iron.
I don't know other stuff was unscathed but if you reached that kind of temperature need to heat them to a pliable state then there would be a few other things on your list for replacement.

that gauge isnt very accurate, he could not be spinning the disc on an exact axis, so he could be pulling the disc slightly towards him as he span it

Which is exactly the state that my cars braking system is in. Next argument?

Do you understand what I mean by pad depositis?
A layer of pad material is bonded to the disc surface.... that will make it uneven.
Do you know how hot you'd need to get the discs to bend them?

cracked discs are stress fractures. Constant heating and cooling etc etc rapid cooling etc
Not 'warping'
You WILL NOT get your discs hot enough to distort them.
You can distort them up and down the way with groves (hard parts of pads), but not buckle them like you are insisting. Not on a road car anyway.
Your brake fluid would boil, rubber lines melt.....

Brake fluid does boil though....that's part of the reason people get brake fade? And I have braided lines, so they wouldn't melt.
I'm aware pad deposits aren't noticeable but you can see his gauge is moving loads as he turns the disc (and you can see his gauge isn't moving)
It's an argument that is never solved tbh, I just stand by the fact you can warp brake discs

I thought brake fade was because the surface of the pad gets so hot it glazes and doesn't grip properly.
Might be wrong though.
