finished work tonight and went to petrol station... pulled up in the forecourt and it was chucking smoke out the exhaust
i am yet to have a proper look in daylight at the colour/smell of it to try guess what the cause is.
If its a headgasket i can deal with that as its a 1.4 8v and i can do one of them in about two hours,
Just hoping its not the rings or a worn cylinder bore or something major. From what i can gather the car has been looked after really well so hopefully its been regurlarly serviced and not neglected so it is worn out.

not happy

possibly, might have to try replacing them 1st, however it might be more efficient to do the head gasket and stem seals at the same time

How were you planning on doing the valve stem seals without removing the head

easily, most big garages have a setup so you can do it with the head on.
