I'm not claiming it won't have bent valves but rather than whipping the head off to check a belt at about a tenner would be worth it to me

My x14xe died when a bolt got miss placed down the inlet

Shit engines to be honest I've had 5

First one the ring were fooked and it lasted a few weeks till it ran on 3 then wouldn't start
Second one died due to the bolt in the inlet
third the headgasket started to go and it ended its life when the bottom end went
4th headgasket

58k, apparently the belt had been done fortunately got away with 16 new valves, no piston damage etc. Still cost best part of £400 for parts.
