Pullups being palms away from you? Is it a case of not being able to do a rep at all, or just limited reps?

Answer to your first question is to persist.

Oh okay, so not totally nothing then.

You've got 2 options:

Work on your Chin ups. If you can do 2 max then do 5 sets of 1, or do a chin up every time you walk past the bar. It's called Frequency Method and works by never fatiguing the muscle. You should find that your numbers go up pretty quick.

Assisted pullups. Most gyms won't accomodate them, but you need to work an assisted full range of motion. Some gyms have a machine to do them on, but you can use a band (which is prefered).

Work on your pressups too as they use similar muscle groups

have you not got a pull up assisted machine at you gym?, forget that there's a women on it, there's plenty of men that use them in the gym, its a cracking way to get used to chin ups with abit of assistance

That is not a long-term solution.

I find the best way to get rid of love handles is to squat heavy (also get the V from this) and cardio (30 min incline walk everynight)
