I had a bug eye wrx. The noise was great, but always felt like a poor man's Evo somehow

Evo is quicker but more to maintain and probs more to buy..... scoobs are very cheap these days although insurance is still through the roof

You'll get a lot of odd comments about one being faster, the other needing less maintenance etc etc but the fact is, they are both expensive to run I'm an Impreza man myself. Something like Barncamp has would do me nicely.

Only thing I'd say is the Evo is more hardcore, people say there more of a 'Drivers' car but this can be taken in
a few ways.
For me Scoobys are easier and nicer to drive. They sound great IMO and you can spend a lot of time in one without it doing your head in.
The Evo's I've driven have at first made me all giddy and excited and really made me want to go for a blast! The difference you notice is they seem more highly strung at first, the steering is sharper and feels a lot more 'Toe In' BUT after a while they did my head in! One was an FQ 360 nodded to the hilt and with 400. At the end of the day I got in my 320 bhp classic and it felt so much 'Nicer'
Me? I'd say the difference on normal roads is nominal and for cost/running costs Vs driving experience i'd say Scooby. Top Gear said the same when they first tested the Blobeye Sti versus Evo 8.
Example.. You can get a 2005
JDM STI now for 7k but 7k won't buy you much of an Evo.
All my opinion of course

Tough choice i love them both had 5 of them and found the evo cheaper to run because they are more relieable. My my98 bottom end had to be rebuilt and the gearbox on my rb5 big bills on both occasions

Saying that I've been looking at Tommi Makkinen Evo 6's and for 6K they would be a nice choice

I cnat realy decide, as I've always liked the Evo, but since I got taken in an Impreza Im starting to like them now.
Evo = Looks
Impreza = Noise.

It's much more fun changing spark plugs on an Impreza than any Evo though
