alloy wheels -

costs against each other and what sort of life span (i.e. stone chips etc) can be expected from each?

also sand blasting a good idea before doing either of the above?

I recently has my wheels powder coated black, acid dipped etc.

Finish is superb, I have got a little stone chip however but I do drive down some rough old country roads to work and back 4 times a day.

All the wheels I've had were sandblasted then powdercoated, turnt out amazing, I will only have my wheels powder coated now, will never go back to spray. I curbed a wheel and it hardly done anything where as paint would flake if i curbed it

ive only had wheels sprayed before. always had a bodyshop do a good job on them though.
I wouldnt advise sandblasting if your wanting them sprayed though

i had my wheels refurbed and sprayed, stone chipped within a week!

refurbed and coated 6 years on no stone chips.

sand blasting will almost certainly need doing before powder coating. unless they can acid dip it.

i used to charge around £160 for blasting and coating

Very.. same price as i got mine done, other places were quoting 60 per wheel for just the face in spray. Mine were powder coated, the whole wheel, balanced. And picked up then delivered back to me.. £160

Having had wheels done in both paint & powdercoat I'd go for powdercoat now. It's alot more durable and stands up to stone chips better

BJV Engineering

They've done 2 sets of wheels for me, and my dads.

Edit, that price included my old SRis being ally welded. They were f*cked to put it mildly

DOOOOO IT!

Decided im gna be getting my wheels done gloss black as soon as there in need of tyres. Will be easier when there getting swopped.

Cant beat powdercoating for durability and weather inhibitor.

Place near me in Bradford called Cas Coatings, charge £1 per inch for normal colors, and £1.50 per inch for metallic colors power coated. Caught one of the wheels on the 106 yesterday, tiny mark but ill have to get it done otherwise it will do my head in, so for one 15" wheel will hopefully be £15
