the chip was a direct replacement from the original one - goes straight in the ecu.

normal route is zorst/filter/chip and/or cams

a chip alone wont really do much to the performance, but if you change any components from standard, especially 3 or 4 major items like exhaust system, filter and cams, then a chip will re-map what the car should do, and it will be set up to run with those mods you've fitted, thus making the mods work better, and its another thing on the spec list isnt it..lol

EFi superchips fitted are about 300 quid i think.

Pre mapped chips are totaly shite. On the Punto forum a lad who writes chips posted the mapping graphs of a superchip and it was almost standard!! the little chip itself costs £3 so the pople who make superchips are simply buying loads of these chips at £3, putting almost standard mapping onto them with a raised rev limit and then selling them at stupid prices £250 - £400.
The best chip for money is a Dastek (Uni chip) these are unmapped so need to be mapped onto your car. They cost around £250 but then you need to pay for the time on the rollers to get it set up, altogether usualy costs £400. The uni chip will make much, much more difference than a pre mapped chip. The Uni chip will also make your car better to drive as it has 17 point mapping rather than 7 point mapping. I would guess you'll be looking at at least 10Bhp and 10-15ft/lb torque.
Don't forget, a Uni chip is an unmapped, piggy back ECU so they are all the same - if you see someone selling one it doesn't matter what car its from it will go on yours but you will have to have it mapped on the rollers. You can find people selling them for around £100 - £150.

If you fit a unichip then you can get it re-mapped should needs be!
Had mine set up with me inlet manifold as they run weaker with the extra air flow.
Then just paid for rolling road time for them to adjust it to me de-cat pipe!
Didnt need adjusting though.
Rev limit isn't adjusted with a unichip though, its an extra add on unit, which im gonna get soon!

My 1.6 16V Sport was 76bhp at wheels, 102bhp at wheels with inlet manifold and chip!

My Photos - Corsa Sport 1.6
I've just spent a similar amount on mine, see photos above.
Inlet plenum + unichip £1100 fitted-over 2 days (velos) (not including header tank)
ARP Con-Rod bolts £150 fitted (velos)
Janspeed De-Cat + new standard system £100 fitted (Demon Tweeks)

Soon - Unichip Rev Limit unit, Gonna go from 6700 to 7200/7500rpm (softcut) (velos) as power is only stopped by limiter-keeps rising!

+32bhp at wheels for chip and plenum speaks for itself!
+20bhp for £285 for torque tube though, some 1 in another thread was offering to make 1 for £100 though!

Manzal inlet manifold and fitting for the 1.4 16v is about £800 i think, ull have to phone them up

Also get a Janspeed exhaust manifold and de-cat pipe £260 for both + fitting which should be about £50

Then get unichip and get it mapped to ur Inlet manifold, exhaust manifold, de-cat pipe and zorst system that u allready have

ull be beating GSi corsas all day

this velos stuff sounds pretty good!
the £1100 for unichip amd plenum chamber sounds good! then id go for the con rod bolts and the de-cat! so maybe looking at around 20 bhp increase at the fly?? what about some fast road/rally cams??

Velos sell piper cams but said it aint really worth the cash, unless you go mad and get throttle boddies!
De-cat and inlet manifold have to be the best bhp per pound!

1.4 and 1.6 manifolds are the same, so bhp figures are quoted at +30%
1.4 Only seems to be 20bhp behind as there top package (£5000) takes the 1.4 to 165bhp and the 1.6 to 185bhp!!!!
