seems to be cars get larger but marked spaces in carparks etc dont, means that distance between too medium family cars eg focus and astra is about a foot, foot and a half most.
Just seen a brand new shape astra parked next to a chrysler voyager and it looked pretty identical in widt and length
obvious problem of this apart from just making it harder to get out your car is parking dents and scratches etc

i like to leave marks in new cars if possible, the newer the better, but as long as they aren't sporty special rare cars, i respect them. Most of the everyday stuff is bound to get door dinged anyway so why not make it an achievement to be the 1st.

- does my model plane look weathered enough
- do i need to get my tripod out to take pics of model planes

There is also the issue of needing to open the door wider on new cars due to the shape and thickness of the door/door cards.
but if you are going to park in a public car park you have to expect car park dings

Steven, you will in fact find that parking spaces are getting bigger also. The standard size a few years ago was 2.4 x 4.8m, now in general (for supermarkets at least) you're looking at 2.5 x 5m standard size bays.
