There are a lot less ways of picking a sequence of 6 consecutive numbers than there are picking non consecutive ones.

^^ I would be inclined to agree. There are only 44 possible chances of 6 consecutive numbers, whereas there's a lot more for non-consecutive ones.

Well, there are actually 6! = 720 because it doesn't matter what order they come out in.

But this is still a lot less than the other possibilities.

You have a 1 in 49 chance of hitting a 1, exactly the same as it being any other number 1 to 48.

You have a 1 in 48 chance of hitting a 2, again the same as any other number

And so on...

The position the number comes out in is irrelevant, so you are not picking consecutive numbers.

Actually, ^^ that's right, I disagree with my above comment The odds are exactly the same for drawing 6 consecutive and non-consecutive numbers
