I have recently been offered an arden blue corsa redtop. Although the engine has no history, it has all the bits needed for a shell swap and has 2l brakes uprated shocks and 60mm springs. The engine is quiet when started with no knocks or taps from cold. It also pulls real well htrough all 5 gears. But nobody knows its history or mileage. Any Advice before a begin on my first build?

It would need reshelled to be honest it's shell is a mess so would be cheaper to reshell :/ so it would be getting a good service before going back in. Is there anything I should look out for?

Yea was going to do that along with gaskets too. Could do
with a general tidy up if im tbh. The Guy who owns the car lives round the corner and I've known him a few years now so cnt say he would sell me the car knowing it's dodgy. £850 can't be to bad?

I was in the same situation mate, I just got bits for a good sevice, gaskets, timing belt and water pump. Should be ok providing you maintain well. Check for smoke when you take it for a spin to make sure theres no internal damage.

Im currently in the Market had 3 corsa sports an arden blue 1416 with cut springs and chrome speedlines, and two black 1616s wit white and black speedlines. Cant seem to find any pics tho except an old bebo one of the 1416 lol. My last car was a black 140bhp seat Leon with the BTTC Kit but it went on Sunday so on the look out for a clean shell and purchase this engine.

Yea it has everything needed for the reshell though. It has a set of cesarios on too with decent tyres. Im trying to find a decent engine but these days its expensive as hell over here to get a redtop.

I thought it was just an incredibly annoying thing that people say/type when they can't be bothered to put "1.6 16v" which really isn't that much effort.

I've no idea what it's like over in Nothern Ireland, but I sold my XE Corsa for £400 when the shell was ruined That had everything needed to run. Again, could be different over there but it certainly seems expensive!

Well general price for a redtop engine over here is around 500-600 quid. Thats just engine box loom ecu.

It might have had 6 spokes when I was looking at it, can't remember though was quite a while ago
That one your looking at has been for sale for ages! Why not just buy a shell + an engine?
