Guy on PNG ran his cav TD on used engine oil yeah, Just need to be sure its 100% oil.

I don't know if he mixed it or whatever, Maybe worth going over and having a look.

It smokes really badly tbh but it will run on it.
Better off mixing it with diesel so try it at 50/50 first and change your ratio depending on the reek out of the exhaust.

ive seen a friend run an old mechanical fuel pump (non common rail) type land rover on pure cooking oil straight out of bottle and a mix of used engine oil and diesel but not 100% sure on pure engine oil just 50/50 it and change fuel filter every few months

Filter deffo needs changing more, and you don't want to do it on any common rail engine.

A old izuzu 1.5td will love it though.

You mean without contaminents? as you obviously can mix it.
I would still filter everything with 1 or 0.5 micron filter bags.
