I have a corsa b, with a manual rack, the steering is way to heavy, ive had plenty before the same and steering has been fine on them.
ive fitted a new rack, track rod ends, new suspension top mounts and still have the same problem, when i turn the steering wether still or driving it is very hard to turn and also steering does not turn back on itself like it should.

Might sound a stupid question but have you checked your tyre pressures? When I had 17s on mine, steering was heavy.. bigger tyre surface area in contact with the road so harder to turn when stationary

tyres pressures are fine, never had this problem with any of my other 3 corsa's which had manual steering.

get your wheel alignment checked out.
Dont just take it to get the tracking checked but get it on a laser machine (hunter) that will check your geometry set up.
Steering not returning to centre is a castor issue possible as a result of previous unnoticed crash damage?

that is very possible.i had a problem with the actual rack on mine when bushes got worn and it felt like driving a lorry.replacement rack would be an option if everything else seems to be ok.
