Discuss.... thinking well ahead for a car next year (hopefully). TA - r32 gtr is bloody expensive for this year so had to give it a miss
R34 - Seem to be holding prices very well over the last few years... STILL around 25k+, 30k + for something special. 20k may get you a dog :S
996 or GT2 (more expensive still, 40k or so) - are a little more expensive, but .... but they are just more of a car (i.e Am I getting too old for a highly strung rice burner as a daily? ). Would either want black or white.... not the norm silver Think whites are pretty rare though Prices for 996 Turbo are 25+, 30+ for a nice one
R35 may be an option in a year - prices are tumbling! Wouldnt buy one new as the depreciation is just cack.

Porsche any day of the week. In my opinion I can't even see why you are asking! I know the gtr is amazing breally good pound for power etc. But.
Porsche is a Porsche, so you do get treated incredibly well by Porsche, great customer service.
Very realistic servicing etc, I bet the gtr has to be service every other month or something as it's a performance car
amazing build quilty in every aspect!
Porsche is prestige-Nissan is not

so a 996 Turbo isnt a performance car?
I'd service either equally.
I wouldnt bother using main dealer services for either - not worth the premium in my eyes. Genuine parts etc, yes... rip off labour and poor service - No.

pretty sure I just laughed at Porsche prices last time I went for a service on the 911.
They offered a discounted rate for 'classic' 911's. It was still something like £80 a hour from memory

Skyline for me, hardly see any on the roads. Would be a real head turner and get loads of attention if you want that sort of thing.

the plan with the 34 would prob be to used it for a year or two then swap over parts from the 32 - and hey presto a new GTR track car
Expensive 'base' though.
Be cheaper just feckin buying a 996 Cup Car for example
http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/2743832.htm
£35k +vat
cool eh.... the we could just live in a box or something

Skyline.
I'd see the Porsche and think 'poser'. I'd see the skyline and think that's someone who knows about cars.

we plan (loose word) to lay the 32 up after this year - not sell it, but stop competing with it.
Take a couple of years out, have some kids or whatever.
In those years buy a nicer road car, but keep all the others - so dont need something practical, but dont want something that isnt usable, ken
I think we'd save about 20k a year by simply not racing the R32
It would also give me a chance to bam up the Impreza as it has been very much ignored since bought. Its had a couple of engines, but is still very tame.
If we bought a r34 it would be rude not to swap over bits and bobs from the R32 After 1.5years the 34 would have paid for itself (in a perverse way of thinking) so could be used as a doner for the next project (i.e be the next project)
We'd still do trackdays and such like in the 32 during this time, and I'd like to keep it, but maybe de-tune/pop a near standard RB26 in it. It doesnt owe us anything but has consumed a fuckload To me it would be pointless to sell on.

Yeah understandable
A porsche racing car would be a bit harsh wouldn't it? Considering you have 2 race car for track days anyway...
I'd just consider a near standard porsche but would it be practical, if your planning on having kids? Oh just remembered you have a RR, you rich fuck.

My thinking...
the 996 TT would be a nice comfy fast daily.... but it would be just get punted after a year or two....
If we did that I think we'd be looking for a 34GTR shell to build in the down time.
R35's may be an option too - same plan as porker.... buy for a while and try to find a rolling 34 shell to transplat bits from R32.
