... ok, I know cone filters aren't liked too well on here but I'm not interested in your opinion of them so no posting that please.

What I'm looking for is an idea why my car is being weird.

Right, I've had 3 different open cone filters on my 206 GTi and none of which has made any difference to throttle noise. The latest one, (that luckily I didn't pay anything for) is a Pipercross Piper X foam cone.

I've heard cone filters on a few GTi's and have just also been watching them on Youtube so I know what its supposed to sound like.

My question is... why does it make no difference noise wise when it should???

Heres a pic...

You removing the whole air box and fitting it yes? And taken it out a drive rather than sitting revving it? Open cone filters usually make the most induction noise

Just leave the pannel filter in, it will run better! All you get with the cone filter is that chavvy "GEEEORRRGEEEEE" sound.. All noise and no trousers.
