Looking at buying a milltek cat back for my mini cooper s I’ve only had it about a week now & is completely standard noticed though that it pop's & burbles no end even though standard exhaust, now if I put the milltek on will this be the same just louder or will the milltek just be louder but not as much burble ect from it?

I no quite a few of you have experience with milltek system's so thought I’d ask even though it's a mini

Much more deep burble.
Retains all the pops and bangs.
I had one on my old mini.

As above. A mate put one on his CooperS before it set fire to itself.

Ah ok the guy i bought it off said it never pop's as much as now but i am running it on 99 ron as its only a couple of £ more a tank and meant to run better. When it's hot it oes sound pretty good for a mini ah ok so it'll still pop & bang abit just deeper & obviously alot better flowing system? Dont get me wrong it's not mega loud but can still hear it

BTW, if you run an Aerokit body kit, then you may need to alter the exhaust hangers a little bit. It rubs and vibrates against the plastic.

No it's not got an Aerokit on it i've herd they take abit of playing around to fit. Did you notice much of a performance difference with it on?

Unless you have the usual stage 1 mods done, then I doubt you'd feel any difference in performance.
I had a fair bit done to my engine so I can't comment on a standard.

Really no point mapping it until you've done the pulley, cooler etc.

If you want more noise and pop's and bangs you need to change the manifold.

The pop's & bang's arent the be all and end all to be fair although it's a novelty thing at the minute as first hot hatch iv owned and sound's like this. I do want to make it abit quicker/fun to drive, just purchased a milltek catback system & eibach pro kit for £535 :-) pretty pleased with the price saved my self abit of money buying together

My engine came out of a mini cup challenge car. I had all the above plus cams fitted later on by my brother.
Running a strong and healthy 220+ bhp. Can't remember torque figures. Its on the dyno printout somewhere

The best thing about the MCS is the handling though Whack traction control off (I can't drive with it on) and zippppp in and out of the corners.

Ah fair play bet that was a hoot to drive with that engine in!

Yeah the ride id really firm and stick's really well in the corner's altough i always have tc on not tried it off yet does zap the power though when start's to give so prob start keeping it off

Just bought an eibach pro spring kit some hopefully it'll make it even more better

The main bit I still can't perfect is pulling away in the bloody thing Hate the clutch - I either bog down and nearly stall, or sound like a learner driver

Back on subject, mine's got the JCW exhaust as standard which doesn't pop & bang anymore than the standard system afaik, but is a bit louder. I'm sure I read somewhere it's near enough the same as the Milltek system though

Yeah, Rich, the JCW sounds nice. The only problem is that if you buy it separately it costs sooooo much and makes it not value for money.

Got one on my VX220, sounds just right. Not had it long enough to comment on build quality but they are known for being a bit shit.

known to have rusting issues around joints, welds have been poor. Couple of dealers have recently said that the latest ones have been of a much higher standard though, one of them even went as far as saying powerflow ones lasted longer than the older millteks and that he considered not stocking Milltek because of so many problems. After much research Ive gone with a milltek for my Cupra, the sound is amazing and no quality problems as yet.

Ah same here the clutch is so heavy (well compared to my corsa) i got in the corsa yesteray & nearly put my foot straight through the floor but same as you if dont bog down abit i screech away

Also were did you get your rear clear fog light from rich? Mines red but like the look of the cleat cover

Milltek cat back on the 350 doesnt pop, and isnt that loud but does burble occasionally, want to either get hfc's to make it a bit louder or decats but thats a pain come mot time.
