Are they anygood ? Looking at the 1.3cdti combo's for a work van seem to be pretty cheap with good mpg figures. Just wondering if theres any major common problems with the engine.

^^^Rubish

What variant are you talking about? 70 or 90?

They are never going to set the road alight but they are perfectly fine for hum drum.

We've had a Corsa D with the 90 and and the Astra with the 90. Both are fine as long as your drive it properly and keep it on boost, They are unfortunately quite laggy.

Yes, very laggy. I drove a 90bhp Corsa D when we were getting ours, it was dangerous.

Pretty sure its the 70.

Am i right in thinking its still the same engine in the corsa c and the corsa d.

Tbh speeds not a major problem iirc 0-60 is something like 13secs and ive got a fiat ducato atm that does 0-60 in about 16.5 thats more dangerously slow in my opinion.

Apart from the lag issues are they a good engine ?

I like them, it doesn't do 0-60 in 3 seconds, it's a tiny diesel.

Anybody saying they are dangerous is an idiot.

It's good to drive around town and does good mpg, can stick a tuning box on it as well.

Decent engine for what it is. The 1.2 petrols are dangerously slow, we have had both and the little diesel is miles better.

1.0 are dangerous, i had a 1.2 corsa d to go to a course...

pulled out into the fast lane (up hill) floored it and nothing happened, even dropped down to 4th as i had someone on my bumper. Too used to powerful cars....

As said above, I drove a 90 at the weekend and it surprised me tbh how well it went. I was already getting a 1.3 Combo because of the miles I do but I did have concerns about driveablility with doing a lot of motorway miles but it's great for it, it sits at 3k at 80 which is fine and you can still gain speed relatively easily if needed. I have read a review saying they're not a fan of being fully laden but that's not a problem for me anyway.

Dangerously slow

Even a 1 litre Corsa isn't 'dangerously slow' what's dangerous is the half wits that can't drive them correctly.

These people saying it's dangerously slow need to try driving a slow truck or van. A 1.3 CDTi Corsa is faster than a good few things I've drove in the past and I've not drove anything over 3.5 tonne yet.

Slow is a Transit with 90 hp and tipping the scales at 3.3 tons.

23 seconds to 60

You just need to floor it right at the start of the line of traffic coming towards you, and a 1/2 mile straight.

as said dangerously slow is a load of shite you want it for a van not a speed rocket

only common things are alternators ive changed hundreds at work if the black plastic cap on the end of the alternator pulley is missing in the near future it'll need an alternator and quite a few suffer from clogged inlet manifolds and EGR's but mainly driving school cars and old people who never use the turbo lol
good engines though i work for suzuki which use this engine in the swift and the above is all can say
