Just looking for some opinions really as i have just had my renewal for car insurance via email and it seems a redicilous price to pay and is the cheapest i can find anywhere.

The car in question is a Seat Ibiza 1.8 FR on an 04 plate.

When i bought the car last year i had paid my insurance on the corsa off in full which was £700 and i only had to pay about £80 admin fee so i was happy.

Got my current renewal rate emailed through today and they want £ 1308 TPFT with my 4 years NCB protected.

Other option is fully comp which is £1615 with my 4 years NCB bonus protected.

I asked them how much i would save if they un protected my NCB and was told 10% of the policy premium.

Im 22 years old with a steady job/income with 4 years NCB no points etc and live in a "Medium" risk area.

The car looking at parkers with the milage and conditon is worth around £2800.

So would you pay that or consider another alternative as i think its nuts paying upto half a cars value on insurance?

Depends how much it is to insure other cars for yourself really, or else what are you gonna realistically do? Get a car that's three times as expensive as your insurance so it doesn't feel so bad? lol or just have no car? Insurance is one of the unavoidable bullshit costs that you have to live with if you want to drive.

My 1st car was a 206 GTi, cost me £5.5K to insure, the car was probably only worth £2K

My next car was a Golf 1.8T, insurance on that was only £4.4K though.

I was going to pay £4400 to insure a £1000 GSi, then I realised I wasn't an inbreed and split it for parts.
